Not a whole lot today. Talked to Jerrel Jernigan and Lawrence Tynes yesterday for stories to run at a later date between now and Super Bowl Sunday, but haven't transcribed the Tynes tape and probably will tomorrow afternoon. Hope to talk to Osi Umenyiora, but that may be easier said than done.
Not only has Tynes made two of the biggest kicks in NFL history, he made one in below zero temperature and made another in rain and 25 mph wind. Tynes is also very confident that Jerrel Jernigan will turn into a very good NFL player.
***Senior Bowl practice started today. James Brown measured in at 6-foot-3 and a half, 307 pounds. HERE is the weigh-in from DraftCountdown, and the report on Brown is "A little soft but plenty of room to bulk up further." - Trust me, there is much, much worse on some players' description. Brown has good arm length and was reported to be working some at right guard.
***Recruiting notes. Defensive end Dieugot Joseph posted on his twitter that he was firm to FIU. He was a long shot but he had visited Troy. Offensive lineman Tyler Lassiter from Hazel Green will make his decision any day now, between Troy, WKU and UAB.
Troy will have a few guys in this weekend, but not sure of the exact number. Some guys will cancel a visit and Troy may have to cancel some guys' visits for the sheer fact that it's number-crunching time and while it seems like Troy signs a million guys, they really don't and they just have a few spots left to take guys for the 2012 class.
