Troy falls to FAU

As well as it started for Troy, the last 32 minutes were a disaster. Game story in Troy's 21-point loss HERE.

Troy is a jump-shooting team. When a team has to rely on the 3-point shot, it's going to have plenty of struggles, and that's where Troy is this year. Where Troy seems to have problems is setting itself up for a good 2-point shot. There is no dominant big man down low - Tim Owens has been consistent as a defender and Ray Chambers has a nice 15-foot jumper, but the guy that seems to be the best at throwing down a dunk in traffic is 6-foot-3 Steven Cunningham.

Have to say, Emil Jones played a great game. He scored 19 with 11 rebounds and a nucleus of him, Justin Wright and a healthy Will Weathers can do some great things next year if Troy can find a serviceable big man 6-8 or bigger (heck, maybe it's somebody redshirting) and a 2-guard who can score consistently from the outside and by driving in (maybe it's also somebody on the roster). But Jones has really playing well and is scoring and rebounding like he did during his sophomore year at junior college.

I've long said that the best thing for this year's team is to finish with some momentum heading into next year, the first year in the new arena. There's certainly a possibility for that, and still a long way to go, but the overall play at this point has been less than inspiring.
