It was a mismatch from the start (AP photo), as Mississippi State's size and length overwhelmed Troy, and the Bulldogs drilled every shot from outside to boot.

Head coach Don Maestri told me Friday that the Trojans would need to work the ball around well, burn some shot clock and make MSU play defense longer, but that didn't happen. Troy forced a lot of shots early in the shot clock and MSU made them pay.
The good news is that's the best team Troy will face this year. The second-best team is probably Belmont, where Troy goes Thursday.
Bear in mind that Troy hosts MSU to open the 2012-13 season, and that means the Bulldogs will be the opening opponent in Troy's new arena.
