I do plan on getting up a Quick look: 2012 Special Teams, but may push it back a day.
***Troy hoops returns to the hardwood Thursday night at Belmont. Belmont is very good, probably the second-best team Troy will see this year. Belmont waxed Troy at home last year, but this year's Troy team is better and I expect them to put up a much better fight, even if the game is in Belmont. Belmont and Middle Tennessee, who looks like the Sun Belt's best team, play Tues. night at 7 p.m. at MTSU. Earlier this year, the two teams played to an 87-84 OT win by Belmont.
Belmont's only losses were at Duke (1 pt) and at Memphis (16 pts), two top 10 teams.
***Some recruiting notes - according to Andrew Bone of scout.com, wide receiver commit Cody Core was just offered by Kentucky and plans to take a visit there on Jan. 21, though according to the premium article, he may have to make a decision not too long from now. Ironically, Core started following me on twitter tonight. I've seen Core play once, and he's a different-type WR than the other commits, it seems. He's big and physical, and has a chance to be a pretty good player.
***Also on the recruiting note, 3-star WR Bobby Walker's Bartram Trail team fell a game short of the state title game in Florida, losing to nationally-ranked Seffner in the semis last week. Walker didn't play because of an ankle injury. Heading into a quarterfinal game, Walker had 41 catches for 555 yards and 8 TDs, so he probably upped those stats a little bit.
***Arkansas State is looking for a head coach, and reports around there suggest former Troy offensive coordinator Neal Brown is a top candidate, along with some others. Brown has been at Texas Tech for two yeas as the OC, and interviewed at UAB but the Blazers hired Garrick McGee. If Brown is ASU's choice, he and Josh Jarboe would be reunited.
Some quick Tuesday notes
