As most of you know, since September 2009, in addition to my daily work here at Jake's DTV Blog, I have written a weekly column on TV and radio for the Evansville Courier & Press.
I've enjoyed it tremendously, and I've also enjoyed the interaction that I've had with those of you who read the column and touch base with me to ask questions, give praise, gripe at me, or just say hello.
I'm grateful for all of the above.
But there's a change coming, and I feel that I owe it to you to explain that change, even though I haven't exactly been able to wrap my mind around it yet.
Unfortunately, due to budget cutbacks, after this week's edition runs in Thursday's newspaper, my column will no longer be published each week, but once a month instead. I have also been asked, and have agreed, to narrow the focus of the column to only include Southwestern Indiana TV and radio.
There may be occasions when I will be called upon to write additional articles for the paper - and I will do so when those occasions come up, as I have in the past.
I wish I could say that the change from weekly to monthly publication is a good thing. At some point, maybe it will be, but now, I would be lying if I said this didn't sting a little. "I feel like the boy who stubbed his toe," Abraham Lincoln once said. "It hurts too much to laugh and I'm too big to cry." For me, that pretty much sums it up.
Of course, I'm not going anywhere ... and it should be noted that what I do here will not change. I will continue to bring you the latest happenings in TV and radio all across the Tri-State, as well as relevant items from beyond the immediate area, whether it be good news or bad.
And I hope you'll stick with me.
Thanks for reading.
