Fans of CBS' long-running Face the Nation can expect the Sunday morning political chat show to remain in its hour-long format permanently, host Bob Schieffer announced this morning.
"It was an experiment, frankly," Schieffer explained to his audience this morning, "and this week the CBS Network notified our affiliate stations that the experiment was successful."
Don't expect a lot of flash and dash from the now-permanently lengthened show. "(W)e don't intend to change much. No bells and whistles here," Schieffer said. "We'll just turn on the lights, sit the key news makers down and ask them the questions we think you would ask. And if they don't answer, we'll try to point that out."
