Good night for Trojans on the diamond. Troy did a lot of things right, beating Alabama 9-0. Hit well, guys stepped up, played defense well and pitched especially well. Look for a guy like Ryan Brady to find his way into the Sunday spot sooner than later. If he can pitch into the sixth and keep Troy in the game, they'll have a chance to win series.

Some injury notes. Freshman CF Clay Holcomb is out for at least 10 more days with a hand injury. No fracture, just a deep bruise, but they're trying to stabilize it. He got hit by a pitch on Saturday at South Alabama. This gives Ali Knows a chance for extended at-bats. Jimmy Hodgskin and Chris Fisher got tagged by line drives/hard grounders at South as well, but they should be good to go this weekend.

Football-wise, I got to write a little bit on the defense, and how they'll have a slightly new look with more speed. It's a 4-3, but with a linebacker as the fourth lineman. So, look for a favorite of mine, Jacoby Thomas, to have a big season. They're also trying to get it to where the safeties and nickels are interchangable and guys know how to play both positions. I've always thought Brynden Trawick would look much better in the box than back deep, but not sure where he's working. This could give guys like Angelo Hadley and Cam Hudson a chance to shine at safety.
