Spring Practice notes

I was able to come out for the first practice. I won't be at all of them, but will be at some. Above is some video with Tony Davis.

***Position changes - as of now, Davis is playing defensive end, where he had been a two-year starter at defensive tackle. Chris Pickett is playing safety, and K.D. Edenfield is working at wide receiver where he was a quarterback last year.

***Injuries - left guard Kyle Wilborn is out this spring. He had December shoulder surgery and recently had surgery to take his gall bladder out. That's seven surgeries since he graduated high school. Jimbo Arnold, who backed up Wilborn last year and started some in his place, is out as he's got a huge brace on his foot. Wide receiver Jaquon Robinson also has a foot injury and he'll just be holding this spring. Linebacker Kanorris Davis is recovering from a late-season dislocated ankle. All four should be good to go by the time the season starts.

***Chip Reeves is practicing this spring. He's still very fast.

***Cody Woodiel was with the first group at left guard, and Jarred Fleming was at left tackle and Andrew Phillips at center. They joined returning starters Zach Johnson and Terrence Jones on the offensive line.

***Troy has to replace its entire kick unit. It looked like Jed Solomon took the first extra point try. The first time I saw Will Scott punt one, he really boomed it. The next one, he shanked a bit, but I think he'll be a solid one. Ryan Kay is a grayshirt from last year - he's a big kid and he'll play a role somewhere.
