Super Bowl Update

I'm back, and it's time to catch up on a few things.

***Troy begins spring practice at 5:30 p.m. tonight. I wrote THIS story leading into it, and got to talk to two offensive linemen - Terrence Jones and Dalton Bennett - about the Octagon program. They had some good stuff to say about it and how it got them ready for spring practice.

***Troy is 1-1 on the weekend at South Alabama. Trojans lost 7-2 Friday night, as Tyler Ray had his streak of 14 straight wins snapped. Ray's worst two performances since the start of last season have, oddly enough, been in Mobile at South Alabama. Troy rebounded with a 10-6 win on Saturday, as Nate Hill came out of the pen and dominated with 5.1 innings of relief and Troy swung the bats well.

In Game 2, Austin Golden, who seems like he has taken command of the third base job, moved to leadoff and went 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored. Chase Mathis went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and Boone Shear went 2-for-5 with 4 RBIs. Mathis snapped an 0-for-13 slump and probably earned him another start if Troy sees a RHP on Saturday.

Troy and South Alabama play Game 3 at 1 p.m. today.
