I thought Troy played about as well as it possibly could for 30 minutes. They didn't play great in the final 10 and had a few costly turnovers, but against one of the Sun Belt's teams, Troy almost did just enough to win.
But, UALR got hot - and hit some well-contested threes - at the end. I talked to UALR point guard D'Andre Williams (didn't quote him in the gamer) and he said they were blessed. Well, they're also very good defensively and that sets up good offense.
Troy returns most of these guys next year, losing center Tim Owens and forward Steven Cunningham. Both had nice stories to get to where they are and both will be successful in life. Troy needs to find another big man with some bulk & bulk up the returning guys. I also think they need another point guard to back up Mo Weathers and another consistent shooter. I think Alan Jones is getting better and he's a guy that can shoot and also create his own shot.
Troy's focus is on the Sun Belt Tournament now, even with games this week at FIU (Thursday) and FAU (Saturday). It looks like Troy will be the 11 seed and play whoever is 6th.
