CBSSports.com, which has been the lead authority on breaking expansion news, reports that WAC commissioner Karl Benson is expected to become the new commissioner of the Sun Belt.
If true, I'm guessing it'll be officially announced soon. What it means to me is that Benson sees a stable situation in the Sun Belt. Wright Waters is retiring this year.
Don't know if that means the rest of the WAC is out of luck, merging with the CUSA/MWC or if he's bringing some schools with him, such as Louisiana Tech, to the Sun Belt.
In other Sun Belt news, North Texas head coach Dan McCarney recently had a stroke and was hospitalized. McCarney issued a statement, which you can read HERE updating his health. McCarney went 5-7 in his first year with the Mean Green and now fans of that school can see a light at the end of the tunnel after several disappointing seasons.
