I've got to think Troy's baseball coaches did pretty well in getting some of the best and more college-ready players out of the Wiregrass.
I wrote THIS STORY, focusing on outfielder Jo-El Bennett, catcher Jake Harrell and outfielder/LHP Hunter Skipper.
All three are progressing well. Bennett has a chance to become an every day starter as the season rolls along, Harrell keeps hitting and Skipper has done well, but Troy just has more depth on the mound and in the outfield so he might redshirt. I'd say Harrell has a better-than-average chance of playing.
Bennett is a guy that was drafted in the 11th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He's a guy where the sky's the limit and one to really watch. I'd also bet that Harrell and Skipper put up big numbers as their career progresses.
I only wrote about the Wiregrass freshmen in that story, but there are others to watch. Peyton Fuller is an infielder/RHP from Fairhope that could play a little bit this year. Two redshirt freshmen - outfielder Clay Holcomb and RHP Jeremy McGowan - are also in the mix.
