Olney radio station owner buying Newton, Ill. translator

V.L.N. Broadcasting paying $21,500 for 10-watt FM

V.L.N. Broadcasting, which owns Olney, Ill. country station WSEI-92.9 FM and sports WVLN-740 AM, has agreed to purchase a 10-watt FM translator from Dallas-based First Venture Capital Partners, subject to FCC approval.

The translator, W296BV-107.1 FM in Newton, Ill., currently broadcasts programming from Illinois Bible Institute's WBMV-89.7 FM, which broadcasts from Mt. Vernon.

Purchase price for the station is listed as $21,500.

It's not immediately clear what V.L.N. plans for its acquisition, but given the number of other area AM stations which have added an FM signal in recent years, the purchase of W296BV could easily give WVLN's Fox Sports Radio programming a home on the FM side of the dial.

Stay tuned.
