Indianapolis wants another Super Bowl: City preparing to make another bid

Mayor confirms Indiana's capital will seek 2018 game

When Indianapolis hosted Super Bowl XLVI earlier this year, millions saw Indiana's largest city in a positive new light on TV and many thousands more experienced Hoosier Hospitality in person.

Now the city wants to host football's greatest game again.

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, saying "Let's do it again," confirmed this morning that Indianapolis will submit a bid to host Super Bowl LII (52) in 2018.

The organizers of this year's game are ready to step up, reports The Indianapolis Star.  "We feel like our city excelled and has the capacity to do it well again," said Mark Miles, chairman of the host committee for Super Bowl XLVI.

It does appear, at least at this early point, that the interest is there among those who helped make this year's event a success. Miles told the newspaper that a majority of the donors who gave big to make Indianapolis' last bid possible say they're on board this time, too. "I'd just tell you, the feedback was overwhelming -- it was nearly unanimous: 'You've got to do this, and we'll play,'" he said.

Under the terms of the new NFL television contract which was reached earlier this year, NBC will televise Super Bowl LII, as it did this year's game.
