Vincennes company paid $962K for Wayne Co. Broadcasting stations, kept all employees
It's official: The FCC released news this morning that it has approved the sale of Wayne County Broadcasting's three stations to Vincennes-based The Original Company, Inc.
News/talk WFIW-1390 AM, adult contemporary WFIW-104.9 FM and country WOKZ-105.9 FM, all licensed to Fairfield, Ill., which have been operating under the TOC umbrella since the transaction was announced earlier this year, were sold by David Land for the sum of $962,767, according to Blaine Thompson's Indiana RadioWatch.
Unlike some other transactions in area broadcasting over the past year, the WFIW/WOKZ sale resulted in no job losses, as TOC's owners, Mark and Saundra Lange, elected to retain all of Wayne County Broadcasting's staff.
In addition to its newly-acquired Fairfield stations, The Original Company (along with its sister company, Old Northwest Broadcasting) owns and operates stations in several Indiana and Illinois communities, including WTAY-1570 AM and WTYE-101.7 FM in Robinson, Ill.; WREB-94.3 in Greencastle, Ind.; WQTY-93.3 FM in Linton, Ind.; WRCY-1590 AM and WYFX-106.7 FM in Mt. Vernon, Ind.; WBTO-102.3 FM in Petersburg, Ind.; WZDM-92.1 FM, WAOV-1450 AM/93.9 FM and WUZR-105.7 FM in Vincennes, Ind.; and WWBL-106.5 FM in Washington, Ind.
