SUPER BOWL

A look ahead to Media Day

I'm now in New Orleans, a drive made longer thanks to a long traffic delay near Mobile, but here at long last. The Sun Belt Media Day starts tomorrow morning at the New Orleans Marriott on Canal St. - the hotel Troy has stayed at the last two times the Trojans went to the New Orleans Bowl.

You can read my short preview HERE in the Monday Dothan Eagle.

I was told the preseason all-conference team and predicted order of finish, voted by the league coaches, would be released at 10 a.m., but whenever it is, I'll get it up here and out to you.

I don't expect to see many Trojans on the all-conference team. Wide receiver Eric Thomas should be on it, but no guarantees. Safety Brynden Trawick has a chance, since he led the conference in tackles last year, but he didn't have any interceptions so you never know. Offensive lineman Kyle Wilborn may find his way on there.

This is how I think the Sun Belt coaches will vote the poll

1. FIU
2. Arkansas State
3. UL-Lafayette
4. Troy (I still think the 5 titles in a row will give the Trojans respect in this poll despite last year's finish)
5. Western Kentucky (People may think they'll be down after losing Bobby Rainey; not I)
6. UL-Monroe
7. North Texas
8. Middle Tennessee (Thought about flip-flopping, then remembered last year's score with UNT)
9. Florida Atlantic
10. South Alabama

That's probably a good gauge going in to the preseason. Obviously, it won't end up like this come November. Heck, tomorrow's 1-10 could look way off. Share your thoughts and preseason rankings.
