Trojans take series over FAU

I should have gotten this updated earlier today, but I have spent the entire evening enthralled with the NBA Playoffs and watching Nick Young spearhead the Clippers into a 27-point comeback over the Grizzlies. Anywho...

Troy's baseball team had a great weekend, bouncing back from a Friday night loss and taking the Saturday and Sunday games over Florida Atlantic, who was and still is the Sun Belt's first place team. Unfortunately I couldn't get to any of the games with our busy high school schedule. It's even busier this coming week, but the good thing (for me, not those riding 450 miles in a bus) is that Troy is on the road this week, to Samford on Tuesday and UL-Lafayette over the weekend. Trojans host UL-Monroe and South Alabama in the final two weeks.

Troy is 8-13 in conference play, still a game out of that final spot for the Sun Belt Tournament. Trojans are tied with ULL and a game behind ULM, UALR and Western Kentucky, so it's safe to say the next two weekends determine Troy's tourney fate, and I truly believe that the Sun Belt Tournament, in its current format of round robin play and then a title game, is anybody's to win this year. College baseball experts I follow see the conference as a one-bid league, and that may still hold true even if FAU doesn't win the tournament.

STANDINGS
FAU 14-5
