Troy finished spring practice and goes into the fall with plenty of promise at the position. Rising junior starter Corey Robinson had a good spring and held on to his starting spot. The offense was in high gear all spring.

"Corey having command of the offense has really helped a lot," Troy offensive coordinator Kenny Edenfield said.

Behind Robinson, two others separated from the pack and got most of the rest of the work - junior college transfer Deon Anthony and 6-foot-7 redshirt freshman Dallas Tidwell.

"They both have different skill sets," Edenfield said. "Deon's a little bit more athletic and can do a little bit more running the ball as well as throwing the ball. Dallas is more of a pure passer. I think there's a role for both of them if something was to happen and we'd have to play them a lot."

The competition to be Robinson's backup continues between the two. Anthony is a guy that could play a few snaps a game as a change of pace quarterback. Since quarterbacks aren't live targets during spring, we probably won't see how well of a runner Anthony is until games start.

"We'll try to narrow it down to one guy really getting most of the '2' work and see how it works from there," Edenfield said.

Tidwell was impressive in both scrimmages, and so was Anthony. Tidwell went 9-for-12 for 171 yards and 2 TDs in the Phenix City scrimmage. At T-Day, Tidwell went 6-for-7 for 96 yards and a 65-yard touchdown pass to Chris Williams. Anthony went 7-for-11 for 82 yards and a rushing TD in Phenix City. He went 2-for-3 for 31 yards and a 25-yard touchdown pass in the T-Day scrimmage.

The other quarterbacks currently on the roster are redshirt freshman Luke Barnes, who is on scholarship, and walk-ons Liam Miller and Kevin Pantastico. Troy signed Brandon Silvers from Gulf Shores this spring. Silvers is a dual-threat quarterback.
