Cromwell Group's purchase of translator for WTCJ OK'd

Deal won't be completed unless proposed move from Mercer, Ky. to Tell City is approved

The Federal Communications Commission has given its approval for Bud Walters' Hancock Communications (The Cromwell Group) to go ahead with its $10,000 purchase of WAY Media's W219DC-91.7 FM, which is currently licensed to Mercer, Ky.

Hancock's purchase of the translator, which was announced in November, will only be finalized if the FCC allows Walters to move it from Mercer to the Tell City area, where he intends to use it as an FM translator of WTCJ-1230 AM.

Under existing FCC regulations, Walters can't move the translator that far, so he's applied for a waiver that would allow him to do so because WTCJ brings in less than $2,000 a month in revenue and needs "revitalization."  The FCC hasn't ruled on the waiver at this point.

I'll continue to keep you posted.
