WSEI seeks FCC approval to raise antenna

VLN Broadcasting-owned country station's power would be reduced slightly if antenna is placed at higher elevation

Olney, Ill. country station WSEI-92.9 FM might be getting its antenna raised if the FCC gives its OK.

The station's owner, VLN Broadcasting, has submitted a minor modification application to the Commission seeking approval to raise WSEI's antenna from 91 meters (298.5 feet) above ground level to 158 meters (518 feet).  That's close to the top of the 551-foot-tall VLN Broadcasting-owned tower just south of Olney that WSEI shares with its sister AM station, sports talker WVLN-740 AM.

If given approval to raise the station's antenna, WSEI's effective radiated power would be reduced from 50,000 watts to 49,000.  That would ensure the station remains in compliance with FCC rules.

I'll keep you posted.
