CBS is expected to announce today that it's already sold 90 percent of the ad space for Super Bowl XLVII, and for a record amount of money.
USA Today reports that the ads have been selling for $3.7 to 3.8 million, a substantial bump over NBC's $3.5 million per ad for Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis earlier this year. "We have a handful of units left," says John Bogusz, executive vice president of sports sales at CBS. "We're pacing well ahead of last time we had the game."
CBS last hosted the Super Bowl in 2010, and at this point then had sold only 80 percent of the ads. This time around, sales are considerably better.
Anheuser-Busch, Frito-Lay, Hyundai and PepsiCo (which recently signed a deal to sponsor the halftime show) are expected to be among the biggest advertisers this time around.
