Indianapolis AM sports station flips to simulcast of FM talker

Lately, more and more AM stations - including quite a few here in the Tri-State - have been adding FM translators.  But when was the last time you heard of an FM station adding an AM signal?

It just happened in Central Indiana.

That's where Franklin-based talk station WFDM-95.9 FM has begun simulcasting on former Indianapolis sports station WXLW-950 AM.  Both stations are now going by the name Freedom 95.

WXLW can be heard during the daytime hours in the northeastern part of the Tri-State, but more importantly, it expands WFDM's reach throughout Central Indiana, instead of just the southern portion of the mid-state area.

Freedom 95 includes mostly conservative programming, including shows from Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Dave Ramsey and others.

It's not immediately known what will happen to the ESPN Radio programming formerly aired by WXLW.  WFNI-1070 AM (formerly WIBC, which is now on 93.1 FM) carries some ESPN programming, but not the network's daytime lineup.
