If you were with me on Friday, you know that Q102 (WQXQ-101.9 FM, Central City, Ky.) sustained a lightning strike during the early morning hours, which knocked the station off the air.
Now we have an idea of the damage from the station's program director and afternoon host, Rick Daniels. "We took a pretty hard hit the other night," Daniels told me Saturday afternoon. "(The strike) blew our transmitter out, (and our) audio processor is gone."
Q102 is back on the air, but only at a quarter of its normal power (25 kW instead of 100 kW). Daniels says that will be the case for several days, but he expects the station to be back to normal "by the middle of next week."
I'll keep you updated as soon as more information becomes available.
