St. Jerome picnic has long been the unofficial kickoff of Kentucky's fall campaign season
KET's coverage of Fancy Farm 2012, Kentucky's premier political speech-making event, kicks off the statewide public TV network's fall election coverage.
Bill Goodman and Renee Shaw will host the telecast live from the grounds of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Graves County on Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT. Their guests include political party activists, pundits, and journalists who offer analysis of this year's races.
Speakers at the event include U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, elected state officials (except for top Democrats, including Gov. Steve Beshear), and legislative candidates. Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer will serve as the master of ceremonies.
You'll be able to see a preview with Ferrell Wellman and the panel of journalists on Comment on Kentucky, which will be broadcast live from Fancy Farm on Friday night at 7 p.m. CT on KET.
If you miss seeing the event live on Saturday, KET will bring you all the highlights in a special one-hour program. Goodman and Shaw will introduce excerpts from the speeches and bring you a little of the flavor that makes Fancy Farm unique in the highlights edition of Fancy Farm 2012. That program will air Monday night at 7 p.m. CT.
