Getting "COZI": NBC-owned TV stations starting their own classic TV network

NBC's company-owned TV stations announced on Wednesday that they're joining the classic TV fray with a new network called COZI TV, which will debut in January on the 10 stations owned by the network in the nation's largest markets.

The new network, which will compete with established rivals such as Weigel's Me-TV, Tribune's Antenna TV and Luken Communications' RTV, will also be available to local stations nationwide - although it's not immediately clear if that means just-NBC-affiliated local stations or all stations - when it debuts in early 2013.

COZI will offer programs familiar to many classic TV fans like Magnum, P.I., The Bionic Woman, Charlie’s Angels, Highway to Heaven, Lone Ranger and The Six Million Dollar Man, along with classic movies and exclusive original programming that is currently under development.

“COZI TV will break the mold in the multicast space by combining three popular programming genres – hit movies, known but not recently seen TV series and original programming – into one compelling network that will appeal to viewers who want to relax and escape,” said Meredith McGinn, NBC Owned Television Stations' VP of multi-station local programming, who will lead the new network.
