Super Bowl Update

Troy hosting South Alabama for the season's final home game.

Checking in from Troy, where about 3 p.m., Trojan players found out they are in the Sun Belt Tournament by way of UALR's loss.

In the first inning, Troy is down 2-0 to South Alabama. If Troy loses, the Trojans will be the 8 seed regardless. ULM and ULL are also playing right now.

If Troy and ULM wins, Troy is the 6 seed. That's not ideal because in the round robin tournament, the 6 seed has a bye on the first day and would have to win four games in four days to get the automatic berth in the NCAA regionals (the 3 seed, which will either be FIU or USA, is in the same boat).

If Troy and ULL win, Troy is the 5 seed and would play South Alabama in the first game Wednesday and be in the same bracket as top-seeded FAU and 8-seed Western Kentucky. The tournament is at the minor league field in Bowling Green with WKU as the host.

9:30 p.m. EDIT - Troy will be the 6 seed and is in a bracket with FIU, Arkansas State and MTSU. Troy has a bye Wednesday so must win four games in four days if they want to reach the regionals.
