I mentioned how Troy needed another guy to step up, and it got one. Alan Jones (pictured above, dunk and post-dunk, Thomas Graning/Troy Messenger/Associated Press photo), got a big steal and dunk, and hit 4 3-pointers. What was also big is that he shot the ball well, hitting 6-of-9 shots and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Jones was shooting about 35 percent from 3-point land. Maybe he's the guy that can step up his game more consistently and hit 45 percent from 3-point land - a tough number to achieve, but not impossible, and Jones has the stroke to do it.
Oh, and Troy rallied from 11 down to beat Western Kentucky 83-77. Troy sweeps the season series and has a winnable game at Arkansas State on Thursday before returning home for the Sartain Hall Sendoff next Saturday against UALR.
Game story HERE.
From WKU beat writer Chad Bishop of the Bowling Green Daily News, reaction from the WKU side HERE.
It's the first time Troy has ever swept WKU since joining the Sun Belt. Troy has swept its other East Division rivals before.
I love me some baseball, but was glad to not be covering the Wiregrass High School Home Run Derby at Rehobeth in the 40-degree and very windy conditions today. Charles Henderson's Jalin Lawson won the event.
