I've got the football post for the defensive signees ready for later today, but I did get over to the baseball field to get plenty of interviews done for the next week or so. Troy opens the 2012 season a week from Friday at 6 p.m. at home against Central Michigan.
HERE is a story I wrote on fifth-year senior LHP A.J. Howard.
He hasn't pitched much in his career other than his freshman year, because he had labrum surgery. That takes some pitchers a long time to get fully back from. Some pitchers never recover. After three years, Howard now feels like he's back to his old self. I saw his old self pitch in high school, and as a freshman at Troy, and before he got hurt, he was pretty good.
Troy has a pretty deep pitching staff at the moment, but I've got a good feeling Howard will make his mark in a few Trojan wins this year.
