Ask Me Another, the boisterous radio hour of high-brow and less-so word games, puzzles and trivia from NPR, launches into a new run of live tapings for its second public radio season, beginning tonight at The Bell House in Brooklyn, N.Y., with shows to air beginning Saturday.
Ask Me Another is pub trivia, comedy club and house concert rolled into one. As host, comedian and storyteller Ophira Eisenberg will take the stage armed with custom trivia games to keep the show’s band of puzzle gurus, contestants plucked from the audience and a fresh crop of notable guests on their toes. Select shows will feature a spontaneous soundtrack from returning musical guest and Internet phenomenon Jonathan Coulton.
Among the guests slated to take the stage this fall: New York Times Magazine columnist Rosie Schaap (tonight); Cristin Milioti, star of the Broadway musical Once (Nov. 19); Big Apple Circus’ nuptially-bound clown team The Acrobuffos (Nov. 26); actor and humorist Steve Guttenberg (Dec. 4); and the iconic Dr. Ruth (Dec. 10), who’ll answer all the questions you’re afraid to ask, and then some.
In its 2012-13 season, Ask Me Another will record a total of 25 episodes at the Gowanus, Brooklyn venue, where it sold out its entire inaugural run this spring and played before more than 4,000 audience members. The show will tour to five additional cities for live tapings in 2013; dates and guests to be announced.
In the Tri-State area, Ask Me Another airs weekly on WNIN-88.3 FM on Saturdays at 2 p.m. CT (3 ET) and Sundays at 3 p.m. CT (4 ET), with on-demand streaming at wnin.org. All shows are also available as a podcast, on NPR’s mobile apps and at askmeanother.org.
