Sara Ganim |
Sara Ganim, the young newspaper reporter who broke the sickening story of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky's crimes wide open, earning a Pulitzer Prize for her efforts, has joined CNN as a correspondent, the cable news network announced Tuesday.
Ganim comes to CNN from The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she worked as the paper's crime reporter. Previously, she worked for the Centre Daily Times in State College from 2007 to 2011, and that is where she began working the Sandusky story.
Ganim, of course, is no stranger to the eldest of cable's news networks; she served as an on-air contributor during Sandusky’s trial earlier this year.
“Sara is multi-talented, and a relentless reporter. Her instincts and her robust questioning while covering the Sandusky trial and the Penn State community are a testament to her award-winning journalism,” said Terence Burke, CNN's U.S. VP of newsgathering. “We are very fortunate to have her join our newsgathering team and we believe she has a bright future with CNN.”
