Troy lost 75-60 to South Alabama. You can read my game story HERE. From the Mobile Press-Register, story HERE.
Troy head coach Don Maestri was nowhere to be found after the game. He got out of there pretty quickly, forgetting that the assembled media was in the media area instead of at press row, like we were after a couple of the December games. No big deal, though, but that had never happened before. But I think he was pretty mad with the team's performance.
Troy looked pretty bad tonight against a team it had a chance to beat. Just one of those nights where shots didn't get in and they couldn't find the shooter and even missed a few easy shots. Teams are keeping Will Weathers at bay (and so is his ankle), and no one else is stepping up and hitting shots on a consistent basis to draw more attention from defenses.
Freddie Goldstein (pictured above, Thomas Graning photo from AP) of South hit 9 3-pointers. Boy, he had a sweet stroke, especially in the second half. He was left open for a few, but when he was contested, he was in such a zone that it didn't matter.
Troy hosts FAU on Thursday. FAU is talented, but has struggled this year for some reason.
