Former WEHT/WTVW news director Walters moves to Monroe, La. CBS affiliate

Bob Walters has joined Monroe, La. CBS station KNOE.
KNOE, Walters' new station, competes with Nexstar/Mission duopoly in Monroe/El Dorado market

Former WEHT/WTVW news director Bob Walters has a new job.

He's the new news director at Monroe, La. CBS affiliate KNOE (ch. 8), the oldest station in the Monroe/El Dorado market, which includes northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas.  The station, which is owned and operated by Hoak Media, is part of a duopoly with Parker Broadcasting-owned KAQY, the market's ABC affiliate.

Interestingly, in his new position, Walters finds himself going head-to-head against two stations controlled by his former employer - Nexstar - which owns Fox affiliate KARD and operates Mission-owned NBC affiliate KTVE.

Walters had spent more than a decade with WTVW, and became news director for both WTVW and WEHT late last year when Nexstar's purchase of WEHT from Gilmore Broadcasting was finalized and the stations' operations were combined.  He held the news director position until his termination in June.

He began working at KNOE on Monday.
