First, some more art of the turf-less Veterans Memorial Stadium!

You can read my short story on the stadium turf, which appeared in Friday's paper, HERE. Suppose next step is the building, or the additional practice fields, once the money is raised.

Around the Sun Belt, Arkansas State running back Michael Dyer - same guy who was the BCS title game MVP for Auburn just two years ago - had his waiver denied in an attempt to play right away. Now, I wonder if he'll ever play a game for the Red Wolves. He'll be eligible for the NFL Draft next year and is probably good enough to go. ASU did sign a former 4-star running back in David Oku a few days ago, but he hasn't played since 2009.

In Saturday's paper, I'll have a story on Charles Clark, who played basketball at Troy and also coached before moving to a career in insurance. He's being inducted into the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame on July 14. Come to find out, he's the grandfather of Troy football commitment Clark Quisenberry and took Clark to Troy games when he was younger.
