Beaver Dam AM station had been off the air for some time
There's now one fewer radio station - officially - in the Tri-State.
Beaver Dam, Ky. talk station WAIA-1600 AM, which was owned by Starlight Broadcasting, no longer exists, as the company surrendered the station's license in a letter to the FCC dated June 26.
WAIA had been off the air for some time prior to its official demise.
The station was originally known as WLLS, and changed its call letters to WSNR in 1996. It's been WAIA since early 2001, according to FCC records.
Starlight also owns WNES-1050 AM and WQXQ-101.9 FM in Central City, Ky., which is currently operated by Virtual Formats LLC as Q102; WKYA-105.5 FM in Greenville, Ky.; and WXMZ-106.3 FM in Hartford, Ky.
