Actually, if you're reading this, I've pre-loaded this before I went to sleep. 6 a.m. flight from Panama City nonstop to BWI, so plenty of sightseeing on a trip like this sandwiching the game on Saturday as I'm not flying back until later in the afternoon on Sunday.
I did write a story in today's paper. It's on the challenge Troy's defense will face with Navy's triple option offense. Defensive players, especially the front 7, are pretty excited about it because they know they'll be gearing up to stop the run.
"Old-school football, smashmouth," defensive tackle Tony Davis said. "They’re coming, downhill, running 50 times a game. It’s definitely going to be a physical game. Instead of teams lining up and running trick plays, it’s running old-school, downhill, right at us."
You can read this story HERE.
SUN BELT MOVING UP: If you click on these ESPN rankings HERE, you will see that the Sun Belt isn't the worst conference any more (of course, watching the MAC marathon on ESPN this week could tell you that), but the Sun Belt, from ESPN's power rankings, has moved up to 9th ahead of the MAC and WAC.
That makes this game for Troy even more important. A win over a non-conference opponent, even if it's just 2-6 Navy, sure wouldn't drop the league in those rankings.
FROM THE OTHER SIDE: HERE is a lengthy notebook from the Annapolis Capital on Navy's injury report - the good and the bad news.
From the Washington Times, an update on Navy starting QB Kriss Proctor's injured elbow HERE.
Quick post before I head out...
