Heward Jue began his career as an advertising art director, creating campaigns for some of the most visible brands in the country. He developed a keen interest in photography while working with photographers on commercial productions. “It became clear to me that the camera was a very powerful tool for not only bringing my advertising ideas to life, but for expressing my personal view of the world.” Eager to define that vision, Heward developed a love affair with travel and a passion for travel portraiture. His favorite subjects are children. “They are always the most generous in spirit, and remind me of the beauty of simplicity.”

Jue is one of those photographers who not only has the eye needed for the fundamentals; composition, lighting, contrast and subject matter - but also has the uncanny ability to get his subjects to relax and reveal their true selves without trepidation. This is evident in the eyes, the smiles and the well-worn lines in the faces of his beautiful subjects.
I found it hard to edit his work down to less than 20 images because each image has captured a unique emotion and had a profound effect on me. I bet you will feel the same.
Heward has photographed for clients and organizations such as Visa, Charles Schwab, The United Way, Asante Africa Foundation, as well as a controversial and award-winning campaign for The Breast Cancer Fund. Some of his celebrity subjects include legendary photographer Elliott Erwitt, Destiny’s Child, Kevin Bacon, Mandy Moore and Tony Hawk. Heward currently divides his time between freelance photography and art direction.

Americana Manhasset Goes Silent. A Peek At The Upcoming Catalog For The Luxury Stores.
The upcoming catalog for the Long Island collection of high-end shops Americana Manhasset is inspired by the genre of silent films. The glamorous black and white catalog will feature Karlie Kloss, Clément Chabernaud and the adorable Uggie, the Jack Russell Terrier from the Oscar-winning film The Artist.
Due out mid-August the catalog, conceived of and executed by ad agency Laspata DeCaro, was shot on location at Paramount Studios and in several private homes in Los Angeles.
The retro theme was chosen to showcase Fall fashions from some of the 60 stores which “harkened to the past in some way, especially the Twenties and Thirties, but with a modern twist,” said Andrea Sanders, senior vice president and creative director of Americana Manhasset.
Accompanying the drop of the catalog, will be a short silent film, “Speechless,” and a behind-the scenes, silent look at the making of the book will be posted on Americana’s web site. The “Speechless” film will also air on Taxi TV during fashion week.

This Model Really Is A Heifer. Jean Baptiste-Mondino's Cow Photos For A Oh La Vache!
On display at The Milk Factory is a series of black and white photos by fashion photographer Jean Baptiste-Mondino of a Holstein Cow named Hermione donning hats designed by a UK milliner.
This series of 21 black and white photos was initially designed for an exhibit in Philippe Starck's Hudson Hotel but according to La Lettre de la Photographie, the hotel managers were not amused and the portraits were quickly relegated to the stables. Now, through the end of April, the images are on view in Paris.
