Super Bowl Update

A collaboration between Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery, SIBLING is a brand based in London which launched in 2008 born out of a desire to give knitwear for men a good old fashioned shake-up with cartoon ka-pows of color and bams of very English humor. Their latest collection, PLEASE KILL ME, is nothing short of outrageous - intentionally, of course.

While one can't discount the technical skill in the oversized knits, the A/W 2013 Menswear collection is a little Dumb Donald meets Fair Isle meets Mickey Mouse. Furry long shorts, mufflers and mittens on steroids, colored leopard prints and knit hats that belong on Fat Albert's gang are paired with sockless converse shoes.





While I commend them for creating fashions inspired by art, music and culture as opposed to concentrating on commercial wear, these pieces are simply ridonk.

If you ever wanted to just curl up and hide, I have yet to find anything more suitable than Rosalie Monod de Froideville's HideAways.

From the Netherlands this product line of bizarre cozies for everything from adults to dogs has been an ongoing series. Sorry, they don't have any for tea kettles.

Rosalie began the collection with the introduction of the adult, baby and dog wool cozies in October of 2005 and was described as follows:
"We all have these moments when we wish the world could just stop existing for a while. Whether it's to get away from a personal crisis or from universal threats, from time to time all we want to do is curl up and hide. Now, for these moments we have the perfect soultion: the HideAway. Pre-shaped in the hiding-position, this cover has a snug fit and is easy to use. you can get into it fast and easy, anywhere and at any time."

Later, in 2006, she began using other materials for outdoor use and added the HideAway Corporate, the HideAway Thug-life and the HideAway Trench:

Since then Rosalie has continued with unusual products which you can find on her site here.

This holiday season, Opening Ceremony teamed up with Yoko Ono to create what they call "a very special apparel collection" consisting of 34 high-priced pieces available exclusively at OC.

Titled “Fashions for Men 1969-2012,” the limited-edition line is based on a book of hand-drawn illustrations (shown below) that Yoko presented to John Lennon on the occasion of their wedding. 43 years later, Yoko and Opening Ceremony have worked together to bring her sketches to life.



According to the New York Times, Ms. Ono loved the way her late husband looked in and out of clothes, so many of her pieces accentuate the 'good bits' e.g. nipples, buttocks and the crotch area.



The Times reports "“Men were always wanting us to look good and take off everything,” Ms. Ono said. “And we were never able to enjoy men’s sexuality in that way.”



Given that, I can only assume that the collection exemplifies what she believes is a way to enjoy men's sexuality. While it does nothing for me, you can decide for yourself. Below is the entire collection.
