Davidson, co-founder of Southern Illinois radio stations, dies at 86

Another pioneer of radio in Southern Illinois has died.

Bryan Davidson, who partnered with the late Tom Land (who died in October 2011) to build WFIW in Fairfield and later WJBD in Salem, died Sunday morning at his home in Salem, Ill., Len Wells reports this morning.

Davidson was serving as general manager of WRAY in Princeton, Ind. when he formed his partnership with Land to build the Fairfield station, which went on the air in 1953.

WJBD followed in 1956.

Davidson and Land ended their business relationship in 1974; Davidson retained WJBD until he sold the station and retired 22 years ago.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CT Sunday afternoon, Aug. 19th, at the Salem Presbyterian Church, 201 E. McMackin St. in Salem.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon until service time.

Dave Ramsey gets his own iHeartRadio channel

Financial wizard and talk show host Dave Ramsey now has his own channel on Clear Channel's iHeartRadio app.

Ramsey is the first independently-syndicated radio host to have his own channel on the fast-growing app, Radio Online reports, which will give listeners 24/7 access to the previous day's show.

Ramsey's radio program, which is now on more than 500 stations nationwide, can be heard each weekday in the Tri-State on WGBF-1280 AM (Evansville), WFIW-1390 AM (Fairfield), WOMI-1490 AM (Owensboro) and WRAY-1250 AM (Princeton).
