CBS Sports Radio programming to be on three Tri-State radio stations

WVLN, WNTC and WMSK on new network's list of affiliates

OLNEY, Ill.; DRAKESBORO and MORGANFIELD, Ky. ― It looks like three Tri-State radio stations will be part of the all-new CBS Sports Radio network as it launches today.

Olney, Ill. station WVLN-740 AM, along with WNTC-103.9 FM in Drakesboro, Ky. and WMSK-1550 AM in Morganfield, Ky., are on CBS' list of affiliates for the new broadcast entity, which has been in the works for several months.

CBS Sports Radio features programs with some of sports broadcasting's best-known names, including Tiki Barber, Brandon Tierney and Dana Jacobson; John Feinstein; Jim Rome; Doug Gottlieb; Chris Moore and Brian Jones; Scott Ferrall; and Damon Amendolara.

The new network now has a website of its own (cbssports.radio.com ― where visitors can listen if the programming isn't available in their area) as well as a Facebook page and Twitter account.

EDITOR'S NOTE:  In addition to the above-mentioned stations, several which can be heard on the fringes of the Tri-State are also to be part of the CBS Sports Radio network.  They include:
  • WFRX-1300 AM ― West Frankfort, Ill.
  • WXNT-1430 AM ― Indianapolis, Ind.
  • WBGN-1340 AM ― Bowling Green, Ky.

Jay Mohr to replace Jim Rome on Fox Sports Radio

Jay Mohr
Fox Sports Radio has given actor and comedian Jay Mohr the nod to host the network's midday show, replacing Jim Rome, who is moving over to CBS Sports.

Mohr's show ― to be named Jay Mohr Sports ― is set to debut Jan. 2 and will air from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT each weekday.  In the Tri-State, the show will air on Fox Sports Radio affiliates WVLN-740 AM in Olney and WMSK-1550 AM in Morganfield.

"After spending the last 15 years guest-hosting, I couldn’t be happier to get the opportunity to host my own show!" Mohr said in a statement.  "I’m looking forward to talking sports, connecting with listeners, and interviewing amazing guests every day, while being a part of the Fox Sports Radio family.  It was worth the wait."

BTN Live launches on Fox Sports Radio

Fox Sports Radio, in conjunction with Big Ten Network, has introduced BTN Live, a daily Big Ten football show airing Monday through Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. CT on nearly 20 affiliates in the Big Ten Conference region.

Hosted by Big Ten Network personalities Dave Revsine, Gerry DiNardo, Howard Griffith and others, BTN Live will take listeners inside every Big Ten campus as teams prepare for games, and provide the latest news, expert analysis and interviews with players and coaches.

The show is an extension of Fox Sports Radio’s weekly Big Ten show, which launched last year.

A list of stations carrying the new program was not immediately available Wednesday morning; Fox Sports Radio has two affiliates in the Tri-State, WVLN-740 AM (Olney, Ill.) and WMSK-1550 AM (Morganfield, Ky.).
