Wisconsin-based company announced purchase of stations in April
The FCC has given its final approval to Midwest Communications' $1.3 million purchase of Terre Haute-area stations WDWQ-102.7 FM and WBOW-1300 AM from Crossroads Investments.
Midwest's purchase, which was announced in April, brings to six the number of stations it owns in the market. The Wausau, Wis.-based company also owns WMGI-100.7 FM, WXXR-95.9 FM, WIBQ-98.5 FM and WPRS-1440 AM. All are operated from studios in downtown Terre Haute.
Since taking over the operation of both stations under a management agreement with Crossroads, Midwest has flipped WDWQ (formerly WBOW-FM) from adult contemporary to country (putting it in direct competition with Emmis' WTHI-99.9 FM), and changed WBOW's affiliation from ESPN Radio to Fox Sports Radio. The company also transitioned WXXR (formerly WWSY) from classic to modern rock.
