Our new neighbor, Brooklyn Prospect Charter School, will celebrate its official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a reception. The school's Development and Communications Coordinator invites all neighborhood residents to attend the October 22nd ceremony and

began their school year on Friday in what

had been Immaculate Heart of Mary School.




The adults wait for the middle school kids

to be dismissed.




The middle school kids, grades 6 through 8,

are done with their first day.




The high school kids, grade 9.

Grade 10 will be added a year from now.



Brooklyn Prospect Charter School

 Immaculate Heart of Mary School 

offered a Catholic education to the children of the parish 

for 95 years, until low enrollment led the diocese to close it.











The Diocese of Brooklyn has rented the building 

to Brooklyn Prospect Charter School. It will open in September 2012.
