Super Bowl Update

UPDATE, 2:15 p.m. TUESDAY:  The new schedule for WTVW will change a little beginning the week of Sept. 9.

Starting Monday, Sept. 10, Rules of Engagement will replace The Office at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. CT.  Dish Nation, a nightly entertainment/celebrity news program focusing on the comedic side of “breaking entertainment news,” will air at 1:30 a.m. CT, moving King of the Hill to 2:30 a.m.  That means It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia gets bumped, too.

So where are The Office and It's Always Sunny going?

The Office will air for one hour beginning at 12:30 a.m.  It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will have a one-hour block at 4 a.m.

Confused yet?  You're not alone ... I am, too! 

PREVIOUSLY: Starting next week, you might be forgiven if you think that Local 7 WTVW starts to look a little bit like a Fox affiliate again, as the station is adding some of that network's most popular Sunday night shows - The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad - to its syndicated lineup.

The Simpsons, which is America's longest-running sitcom and animated program, will air in double episodes each weeknight at 7 and 7:30 p.m. CT, except for Friday nights, when the station airs local high school sports.

Family Guy and American Dad will also air in double episodes from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. CT.

King of the Hill also returns to WTVW's lineup with a single episode each weekday morning at 1:30 a.m.

There are other changes to the lineup as well, and here are a few of those:

WTVW is reducing its dependence on Me-TV programming (which is also carried by WTSN and WYYW) by replacing the classic TV network's overnight shows (Mission: Impossible, Combat! and 12 O'Clock High) with King of the Hill, It's Always Sunny, a 30-minute infomercial, and second runs of Inside Edition and The Insider. The station will continue to air some Me-TV shows, but only on weekends.

Classic TV network Me-TV will debut its new fall schedule on Sept. 3, and some fairly interesting changes can be found in the new lineup.

The network is adding Rod Serling's classic NBC anthology series Night Gallery, the 1970s medical action-adventure drama Emergency! and Remington Steele to its lineup, and they're also making some tweaks to make an already popular schedule even more so as we head into the latter months of 2012.

Let's take a look at some of those:

Cannon, which now airs at 11 a.m. CT, will exit the schedule in favor of The Rockford Files, which is moving in from the 3 p.m. hour.  The Wild Wild West, which now airs only on weekends, will air at 3, followed by Emergency! at 4, replacing Hogan's Heroes.

At 7 p.m., Remington Steele is new to the lineup.  It'll be followed by The Mary Tyler Moore Show (8 p.m.), The Dick Van Dyke Show (8:30), Cheers (at 9), The Bob Newhart Show (9:30) and The Twilight Zone (at 10).

Perry Mason continues to lead Me-TV into the late night hours at 10:30 p.m.  However, Kojak will now follow up at 11:30, replacing The Untouchables, with Rod Serling's classic Night Gallery replacing Peter Gunn at 12:30 a.m.  The overnight lineup of Mission: Impossible, Combat! and 12 O'Clock High will not change.

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced on Thursday new series and returning favorites coming to the network this fall along with three more new series for 2013, including Life with La Toya, a candid look inside the life of the outspoken Jackson sibling; The Customer is Always Right, a high-stakes experiment with customers as the boss, and Neighborvention, where communities unite to help neighbors in crisis.

"We've laid the ground work at OWN with Oprah's popular series and now it's time to build on that success with these brand new shows," said Erik Logan, president of OWN.  "Our viewers want to be entertained, to laugh and to have an 'aha' moment," added Sheri Salata of OWN. "We are confident our new programming is delivering on that promise, infusing the core values of the Oprah brand into everything we put on the air."

OWN's fall lineup includes all-new episodes of Oprah's popular series Oprah's Next Chapter, two Oprah's Lifeclass special episodes in September and the return of the network's family docu-series Welcome to Sweetie Pie's. In addition, new series will debut including Iyanla, Fix My Life, TV Guide Magazine's Top 25 Best Oprah Show Moments and Oprah: Where Are They Now?
 

Oprah's Next Chapter (Sundays at 8 p.m. CT) will feature in-depth interviews with comedian Stephen Colbert from his hometown in Charleston, South Carolina, the legendary and larger-than-life Bette Midler at her home in New York City, singer/actress Jennifer Hudson in an intimate conversation about her life today, and actor Kelsey Grammer and his wife Kayte as they discuss their new marriage and parenthood.

Counting down the most famous and memorable moments from the 25-year history of the Oprah show, TV Guide Magazine's Top 25 Oprah Show Moments premieres Tuesday, Aug. 28 (8 p.m. CT) and will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. CT throughout its run.

OWN and Oprah are deeply engaging audiences on-air and online with Oprah's Lifeclass, a true multi-platform experience which features Oprah taking the stage as teacher sharing advice and engaging in inspiring conversations with millions of fans from over 200 countries worldwide.  The series will premiere two special fall episodes Sunday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 23 (9 p.m. CT).

The OWN original series Welcome to Sweetie Pie's returns Saturday, Sept. 15 (8 p.m. CT).  The homegrown success consistently ranked in the Top 20 among all cable shows in its time period during its spring run.  Immediately following Sweetie Pie's is a new original series from the inspirational Iyanla Vanzant, who draws from her personal experiences and struggles to help others in Iyanla, Fix My Life, premiering Saturday, Sept. 15 (9 p.m. CT).

Featuring some of the biggest newsmakers from the history of the Oprah show, Oprah: Where Are They Now? will have a two-hour premiere Tuesday, Oct. 2 (8 p.m. CT) and will air at 9 p.m. CT Tuesdays throughout its run.  The series will include never-seen-before footage of Rodney King's last interview and Mary Jo Buttafuoco twenty years after being shot by "the Long Island Lolita," Amy Fisher.

ABC has officially announced its premiere dates for the 2012-13 fall season.

The action on the Alphabet Network kicks off on Friday, Sept. 14 with new episodes of Shark Tank, What Would You Do? and 20/20, before the heart of the lineup comes into play starting Sept. 24 with the new season of Dancing with the Stars and Castle.

All of the network's shows will make their fall debuts between that date and Nov. 2, when Last Man Standing and Malibu Country enter the scene and Shark Tank moves to a new time.
